PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device which suppresses whitening by accompanying pilot burner discharge in a black display portion of a plasma display panel and is high in contrasting of an image. SOLUTION: A front filter of 15 to 35% in total ray transmittance is arranged on the front of the plasma display panel, The plasma display device in which the luminance in the black display is≤9.5 cd/m<SP>2</SP>and the luminance in white display is≥40 cd/m<SP>2</SP>is provided.
