<p>Positioning system for container handling equipment for positioning the container handling equipment (16) in a position determined by a crane (10) handling and moving containers (13) in a vehicle lane (26) located under said crane (10). Into said position, the crane (10) will lower the container/containers (13) it has moved and/or from said position it will pick up the container/containers (13) brought by the container handling equipment (16) for further loading/storing elsewhere. The positioning system comprises a calculating unit installed in the container handling equipment (16) and a transmitter/receiver connected to the calculating unit and transmitting and receiving a radio signal as well as at least two devices installed in the crane (10) and communicating with the transmitter/receiver of the container handling equipment (16). The calculating unit in the container handling equipment (16) constantly calculates the distances between the transmitter/receiver in the container handling equipment (16) and the devices in the crane (10) communicating with said transmitter/receiver and determines the position of the container handling equipment (16) while it is moving and the exact place where to stop in relation to the crane (10) for loading and/or unloading containers (13).</p> |
