PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a discharge device efficiently. SOLUTION: This discharge device is provided with a driving means for generating alternate current voltage, a voltage transformation means for transforming alternate current voltage in a discharge tube, and an output means for outputting transformed alternate current voltage to a negative electrode or a positive electrode of the discharge tube. The driving means generates first alternate current voltage and second alternate current voltage whose phases are opposite mutually. The output means outputs first transformed alternate current voltage to the negative electrode of the discharge tube and outputs second transformed alternate current voltage to the positive electrode of the discharge tube.
