A vibration damper assembly for use on a drive shaft centre support bearing 110 of an automotive vehicle is located on a non-rotating portion of the bearing and comprises a mass element 122 suspended on a spring element 120. The damper can be tuned to different resonant frequencies by altering the compressive forces on the spring element 120, possibly via a ring member 124. The spring element 120 may be a ring of elastomer material with extensions 123 for mounting to the bearing and the mass element 122 may incur an interference fit with the spring element 120. The mass element may comprise a plurality of arcuate shaped pieces (222A-D, figure 6) secured together with a degree of tightness which compresses the spring element (220A-D, figure 6) to tune the damper, and further mass elements (230A-D, 232A-D, figure 6) may be added to further tune the damper. |
