The method involves estimating pulse response of a transmission channel and currently sent data symbol (d(k)) for each time in transition. The number for estimating the currently sent data symbols including combinations of data symbol sequence is reduced compared to maximally possible number of combinations of data symbol sequence. One channel estimation hypothesis is utilized for each condition selected in current time in a finite state diagram. The hypothesis results from a channel estimation hypothesis of preceding time. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an equalizer for equalization of a data symbol sequence, which is received over a time varying transmission channel (2) a digital storage medium with electronic selective control signals (3) a computer program product with program code unit stored on a machine readable carrier (4) a computer program with the program code unit. |
