PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-constitute damping device for negating rotating torque acting on a fixed outer cylinder accompanied by the forward/backward movement of a screw rod without transmitting the torque to a structure to which the fixed outer cylinder is joined while improving a degree of freedom in joining the screw rod and the fixed outer cylinder to the structure. SOLUTION: The damping device comprises the fixed outer cylinder joined to the first structure, the screw rod joined at one end to the second structure to be moved forward/backward in the axial direction and having a spiral screw groove formed on the outer peripheral face, a rotor stored in a hollow portion of the fixed outer cylinder and rotatably supported to the fixed outer cylinder, having a damping force operating chamber opposed to the inner peripheral face of the fixed outer cylinder at a predetermined gap, and screwed to the screw rod, a viscous fluid filled in the operating chamber, and a rotation locking member fixed to the second structure together with the screw rod for locking the rotation of the fixed outer cylinder around the screw rod.
