摘要 A fluid distribution element for a heat exchanger has a cavity 430 into which heat exchange channels can open in fluid communication with a first header port 410 by a passageway 440. The element may be a plate. Cavity 430 is spaced apart from the port and shaped to allow heat exchanger channels to open into said cavity. The passageway is narrower than the port and the cavity, and may form a throttle tube. A second port 420 between the first port 410 and the cavity 430 may be bypassed by the passageway 440. By aligning a number of fluid distribution elements in the first direction, the ports define a header through the stacked assembly, each port having an associated localised distribution cavity for supplying a series of heat exchanger channels with fluid. The heat exchanger may cool and liquefy natural gas (LNG).
