An electronic key system and a portable unit are provided to enable a user to remember a location of another user's car without failing through a simple structure of the electronic key system, thus the user can exactly know the location of the car. An electronic key system consists of a vehicular unit(1) mounted within a vehicle and a portable unit(2). If a user is isolated from the vehicle, the vehicular unit demands information on a relative position of the vehicle for a landmark target adjacent to the vehicle from a vehicular navigation device(13), and transmits the received relative positional information to the portable unit. The portable unit stores the received information, and notifies the user of the stored information according to the user's operation. |
