A circuit and a method for driving flat display devices are provided to design small MOS(Metal Oxide Semiconductor) transistors for a switch unit by enhancing driving capability using signals passing through the switch unit. A circuit for driving flat display devices includes first and second data signal processing units(PDAC,NDAC), an output driver(400), and a switch unit(300). The first data signal processing unit receives first screen information to be displayed in a flat display device and converts the received first screen information into positive gamma values. The second data signal processing unit receives second screen information to be displayed in the flat display device and converts the received second screen information into negative gamma values. The output driver receives the positive and negative gamma values, and provides the received positive and negative gamma values to the flat display device. The switch unit is used for delivering selectively the positive and negative gamma values to the output driver.
