A filter and a plasma display device using the same are provided to effectively represent a black image by arranging an external beam blocking sheet on a front side of a display panel. A plasma display device includes a PDP(Plasma Display Panel) and a filter. The PDP includes upper and lower substrates. The filter is formed on the upper substrate of the PDP. The filter includes a base unit and an external beam blocking sheet. The external beam blocking sheet includes plural pattern units, which are formed on the base unit. A distance between two adjacent electrodes(600,610), which are formed on the upper substrate of the PDP, is greater than a distance between lower ends of two adjacent pattern units by 2.5 to 12 times.
