An adsorbent for adsorbing sulfur components is provided to effectively remove sulfur components contained in fuel gas at ambient temperature, to reduce the risk of sulfur poisoning during reformation, and to embody a stable fuel cell system. An adsorbent for adsorbing sulfur components contained in fuel gas is formed by adding one selected from NaOH, Na2CO3, KOH, KI, I2, CuO, Fe2O3, ZnO, Cucl2.2H2O, and FeCl2 to activated carbon or a mixture of activated carbon and zeolite having a porosity of 70% or more, a specific surface area of 1,000 m^2/g or larger, a hardness of 95% or more, and a particle size ranging from 12x16 to 4x6 mesh. The mixture of activated carbon and zeolite has an activated carbon/zeolite ratio ranging from 2:8 to 8:2. |
