A high efficient display device supporting both 2D and 3D images is provided to prevent the brightness of a displayed image from being decreased by realizing the 3D image according to a parallax barrier scheme. A high efficient display device includes a backlight unit(31), a polarizing plate(32), a first birefringence element array(33), a second birefringence element array(34), a reflective polarizing plate(35), and a display panel(36). A reflective plate is formed on a bottom of the backlight unit. The polarizing plate passes a specific beam with a specific polarizing direction. The first birefringence element array includes plural first and second birefringence elements, which change polarizing directions of the incident beam. The second birefringence element array includes plural third and fourth birefringence elements, which change polarizing directions of the incident beam. The reflective polarizing plate passes the specific beam from the light passing through the second birefringence element array and reflects the rest incident beam. The display panel displays an image.
