METHOD FOR MAPPING PILOT SEQUENCE AND SYNCHRONIZATION CHANNEL SEQEUNCE

A method for mapping a pilot sequence and a synchronization channel sequence is provided to improve cell search performance of a mobile station in a cellular system. A method for mapping a pilot sequence and a synchronization channel sequence includes the step of combining a pilot channel PN(Pseudo-Noise) code with a pilot channel orthogonal code to divide cell identifiers used in a mobile communication system. The cell identifiers are equally divided into cell groups. Primary synchronization channels(100-A,100-B) include information about the cell identifiers in the cell group. Secondary synchronization channels(101-A,101-B) include information about the cell group. A secondary synchronization code is allocated in correspondence to the pilot channel PN code.
