A liquid crystal aligning agent is provided to reduce charge-up ions while maintaining a high voltage holding ratio, and to ensure excellent printability. A liquid crystal aligning agent contains (a) a polymer obtained by a reaction of at least one selected from the group of tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides represented by the following formulae 1 and 2, with at least one selected from the group of diamines represented by the following formulae 3 to 6, and an imidized polymer thereof, (b) at least one selected from the group comprising 2-pyrrolidone, N-methylsuccinic acid imide, and N-methylglutaric acid imide, and a solvent. The liquid crystal aligning agent has a solid content of 1-10wt%, a viscosity of 5-12 mPa . S, and a water content of 0.01-0.5wt%.
