A file update method using a mobile terminal is provided to be capable of modifying a file first whose size is decreased, while a file whose size is increased is modified later as being updated, thereby stably updating the files even when surplus spaces of a memory area are deficient. An update packet including more than one of the second files for updating more than one of the first files is received(S400). The first file whose size is decreased among the respective first files corresponding to the respective second files is modified, and the modified file is updated(S410-S442). The first file whose size is increased among the first files is modified after the first modification, and the modified files is updated(S444).
