PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase durability of an actuator by inhibiting vibration generated in a valve gear from being transmitted to the actuator via a control shaft. SOLUTION: In a variable lift valve gear for an internal combustion engine provided with a variable lift mechanism including the control shaft having an axis parallel with a camshaft and capable of changing lift of an engine valve opening and closing in response to rotation of the camshaft, in response to rotation of the control shaft, and the actuator connected to the control shaft to rotate and drive the control shaft, a friction brash 67 generating friction force together with the control shaft 54 is in sliding contact with the control shaft 54.
