Wood tracking by identification of surface characteristics

A wood tracking system is provided. The system includes at least two cameras for imaging multiple pieces of wood at least two different places as they travel through a production line, image processing software to adjust the images taken, image characterization software to characterise the wood surfaces of the wood in the images taken and comparison software to compare at least one characteristic value of the wood surface to determine whether images of the wood taken at the first and second points match.
