摘要 #CMT# #/CMT# In a steamer for treating a textile element (2), the treatment is applied to an element be inserted into a loom or knitting frame and the steamer has a steaming system (6, 7, 12, 13) in which the weft element is passed through a steam-containing region in a straight linear path before entry into the frame. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are included for: (1) a corresponding method for steaming a textile element; and (2) a weaving plant comprising a loom and a steamer as above. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Steam treatment of textile elements is useful for modifying the modifying the physical and chemical properties, such as elongation at break or appearance, e.g. for improving the appearance, bulk and dye fixation of a woven or knitted fabric. Typically the treatment is applied to a polyester chenille weft thread. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The textile element is treated in longitudinal form immediately before being incorporated into a fabric, rather than as a coil wound on a bobbin or as finished fabric. The need for a winding stage (with consequent cost and inconvenience) or a closed fabric treatment chamber is eliminated. Crease marks due to winding on a bobbin are also eliminated; this is especially beneficial in the case of special yarns (e.g. chenille or flat yarns). Treatment immediately before entry into a loom or knitting frame also suppresses crease mark formation, so that the obtained fabrics have a regular, discontinuity-free appearance. The steam pipe is immediately upstream or downstream of a temporary thread reservoir of predeliverer type, in which case the steaming system preferably comprises two steam pipes, one upstream and the other (7) downstream of the thread reservoir. Alternatively several steam pipes are located in series along the straight path of the textile element (optionally upstream or downstream of a predeliverer), supplied by different steam lines so that different steaming stages (as regards temperature, pressure or saturation) are created to cause progressive steaming of the element. The steam admission unit (6) comprises an annular steam injection opening (19), for injection of steam into the steam pipe, around the textile in its straight path; and an injector body (13) supplied with steam and traversed by an internal nozzle (12) for passage of the textile element. The internal nozzle has the same configuration as the injector body (but reduced size); and the nozzle and body have constricted end sections (17, 18) at the connection with the steam pipe (7), to give a Venturi effect during injection of steam. The internal diameter of the internal nozzle is 1.5-6 mm. A thread breakage detector is provided, connected to a system for stopping the supply of steam.
