This discloses a work chair 3, including: a seat 7,8 supported in a height-adjustable manner by a column 5 on a foot 1, and an adjustable backrest 16; the seat 7 having a substantially horizontal position, and the backrest 16 promoting an upright position of the user's back; characterized in that: the column is composed of three parts 4,5,6 and as a result provides a two-stage adjustability for the seat height; the seat 7 8 is divided into two parts, in such a manner that a rear section 7 is fixed and always retains the substantially horizontal position, while a front section 8 is hinged with respect to the rear section 7; and the front section 8 is connected by a first hinge 10 to a first end of a rod 9, the other end of the rod 9 being connected by a second hinge 11 to the second stage of the column 5.
