A back light unit of a liquid crystal display device having improved luminance and a liquid crystal display device with the same are provided to improve luminance by diffracting and refracting incident light. A back light unit of a liquid crystal display device includes a lamp, a light guide plate(113), a plurality of slits(114), and a reflecting unit. The lamp emits light. The light guide plate is provided in one side of the lamp, and guides the light emitted from the lamp to a liquid crystal panel. The plurality of slits are formed on a light incident surface of the light guide plate to which light is incident, and diffract and refract the incident light. The reflecting unit is provided on a lower surface of the light guide plate. The reflecting unit includes a reflecting pattern formed on the lower surface of the light guide plate. |
