A shock absorber with a rebound coil spring and a method for installing the rebound coil spring thereon are provided to prevent delay of operation in the rebound coil spring by fixing one end of the rebound coil spring on a piston rod. A shock absorber with a rebound coil spring comprises a cylinder(220), a piston valve(205) placed inside the cylinder, a piston rod(230) connected to the piston valve, a groove(231) formed at the outer periphery of the piston rod, and a rebound coil spring(240). The rebound coil spring has one end supported on the piston rod to be inserted into the groove, and other end selectively pressed in the cylinder. The groove includes a mounting surface wherein one end of the rebound coil spring is mounted.
