A ceramic element for a watch case, includes features on its visible surface. The visible surface has, at each feature, a hollow having the shape of the base of the feature, with a depth of at least 0.05 mm. The hollow has side walls that are perpendicular to the visible surface, and a bottom that has a first tie layer (3) at least 100 nm in thickness and at least one second layer (4) with a thickness of at least 100 nm. A ceramic element for a watch case, includes features on its visible surface. The visible surface has, at each feature, a hollow having the shape of the base of the feature, with a depth of at least 0.05 mm. The hollow has side walls that are perpendicular to the visible surface, and a bottom that has a first tie layer at least 100 nm in thickness and at least one second layer with a thickness of at least 100 nm. The second layer is gold, silver, chromium nitride, nickel, platinum, titanium nitride, zirconium nitride, palladium or its alloys. An independent claim is also included for a process for manufacturing a ceramic element comprising, before sintering the ceramic element, producing hollows by mechanically removing material; after sintering, vacuum depositing a first layer of titanium, tantalum, chromium or thorium type by physical vapor deposition (PVD) operation with magnetron sputtering; and, without venting to atmosphere, depositing gold, platinum, silver, chromium, palladium, titanium nitride, chromium nitride, zirconium nitride or nickel second layer by PVD.
|
