PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity by preventing the occurrence of a clogging with resin in a coating die, with good controlability even though it is an optical fiber to which germanium dioxide is added much. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of an optical fiber including an area to which germanium dioxide (GeO<SB>2</SB>) is added, a coating stage is constituted of a stage where only either 1st ultraviolet curing resin or 2nd ultraviolet curing resin is applied and cured in starting manufacture, and then both of the ultraviolet curing resin are applied and cured while adjusting light quantity by adjusting lighting timing by turning on/off a plurality of light sources, and the method is characterized in that it includes a stage where the light quantity of ultraviolet rays in the case of curing only either ultraviolet curing resin is made smaller than the light quantity of the ultraviolet rays per resin in the case of curing both of the ultraviolet curing resin.
