PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting device for a grating having main bars longitudinally arranged capable of installing the grating to withstand load of a heavy object such as an automobile. SOLUTION: A plurality of beams 12 for loading stretched and fixed at a predetermined interval along the longitudinal direction of a water ditch 1 to cross it are provided at the predetermined interval along the longitudinal direction of the water ditch 1 at lower positions positioned at an interval of height substantially equivalent to the thickness of the grating 5 with main bars longitudinally arranged more than a reference plane 9 at a peripheral fringe of the water ditch 1 to support the grating 5 by the beams 12 for loading. Even when load of the heavy object such as the automobile is applied on the grating 5, this supporting device has sufficient strength for withstanding the load because each of main bars 6 of the grating 5 is supported by a plurality of beams 12 for loading.
