Cable connection for an electric cable

The connection (1) has a compression unit (3) penetrated by a drilling (6) and slid on a cable (2). The compression unit inserts a lower part (4) into an opening (12) of a housing (14) and connects the lower part with the housing. A sleeve-shaped insert (7) is connected with the lower part at an outer side (16) of the cable by tensioning the compression unit to protect interior of the connection against penetration of water. The insert is made of intumescent material in area by area.
