The invention is an apparatus to produce and deliver frozen water to the Polar Regions. The apparatus has an endless track 2 between the polar region and a source of water, several containers running upon the track and filled by a pumped water supply 3 in the vicinity of the water source, and a means 4 to offload the frozen water which has frozen en-route between the water source and the polar region. The ice is released from the container by heating at a heating section 5 after inversion, such that the ice is discharged from the inverted container. Each container is about a yard long (approximately 0.918 metres), and travels along the track at a speed such that a block of ice is formed en-route to the polar region. Once discharged, the container is refilled with water and the journey begins again. The invention permits the effects of ice-cap melting to be reduced by replacing some of the melted ice. |
