METHOD AND STORAGE DEVICE OF MAPPING A NONVOLATILE MEMORY BASED ON MAP HISTORY

A method for mapping a nonvolatile memory based on a map history and a storage device thereof are provided to improve performance of the storage device including the non-volatile memory and a system including the storage device by shortening a map opening time with a map table formed based on the map history. A non-volatile memory(300) includes a plurality of map blocks for storing a plurality of map units representing mapping information between physical and logical addresses, and stores history information for a position of the valid map units representing the valid mapping information among the map units included in the previously allocated map block. A memory controller(100) makes the history information when the new map block is allocated, and forms a map table by using the history information and searching the latest allocated map block. A RAM(200) stores the formed map table. The history information includes the physical address of the valid map units included in the previously allocated map block and a serial number for representing making order of the history information.
