An HMM01 protein is provided to be involved with an attack of renal cyst and be dominantly expressed in kidney tissues, thereby being used as a marker of the renal cyst attack and being designed as a therapeutic agent of the renal cyst. An HMM01 protein consists of an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 2. A gene encoding the HMM01 protein consists of a sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 1. A transformant is transformed by a recombinant vector including the gene. A marker or a microarray for diagnosing the attack of the renal cyst comprises the sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 1. To treat the renal cyst of a test animal, the expression of the gene in the test animal is inhibited. Further, the test animal is a pet such as dog or cat, a domestic animal such as pig or caw, mouse, zebrafish or Drosophila.
