A fluid storage container (10) comprises a first chamber (12) having an upper inlet, a second chamber (13) having an inlet in communication with the first chamber, and an outlet mechanism comprising a valve which operates to permit flow of fluid from the chamber under the most pressure. The first and second chambers suitably have separate outflow pipes that are connected to a shuttle valve which operates to permit the flow of fluid from the container under the highest pressure. Alternatively, the outlet mechanism includes an outflow pipe in the second chamber which is connected to a one-way valve that permits flow of fluid from the second chamber into the first chamber when the pressure in the first chamber is less than the pressure in the second chamber. Most suitably, the container is mounted in a housing and the chambers are separated by a dividing wall. |
