A magnetic recording apparatus is provided to remove blind sector of servo signal by making the width of each burst equal to or greater than the width of the reproduction head. A magnetic recording apparatus comprises a magnetic recording layer including a data area having a plurality of data tracks(16) and a servo area having servo burst following the data track. The servo burst consists of a plurality of bursts crossed in the track direction, where the burst width(WB) is equal to or greater than the reproduction head width(WH) and less than twice the reproduction head width.
