PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of improving in throughput in printing, and a method of transporting paper. SOLUTION: The printer 10 made to carry out print on a printing paper sheet P comprises: a motor 31 made to carry out paper discharge and paper feeding of the printing paper sheet; a paper transporting means 30 transmitted with a driving force of the motor 31, and discharging or transporting the printing paper sheet P; paper feeding means 32, 37 disposed at a more upstream side of feeding of the printing paper sheet P than the paper transporting means 30, and sequentially feeding the printing paper sheet P by the driving force of the motor 31; a clutch mechanism 60 intervening between the motor 31 and the paper feeding means 32, 37, and shifting transmission and non-transmission of the driving force to the paper feeding means 32, 37; and a control means 100 formulating driving information for continuously driving without stoppage between discharge and heading out of the printing paper sheet P, and controlling the motor 31 on the basis of the driving information.
