An image display apparatus 10 includes a frame 11 and a support member having a raised portion 15 upon which an image 16, such as a photograph, can be mounted. Securing means are provided for securing the frame 11 to the support member such that the frame 11 surrounds the raised portion 15. The area of the raised portion 15 may be smaller than the inner area of the frame 11 to provide a gap between the frame 11 and the raised portion 15, to give the impression of the image floating in the frame 11. The image 16 may be secured to the raised portion by an adhesive layer. A method for front mounting an image in a frame is also disclosed. Support bars (20a, 20b, fig. 4) or a guide rail (21, fig. 5) may be used to assist in centering the image 16 prior to securing it to the raised portion 15. |
