VARIABLE CONVERSION GAIN MIXER AND VARIABLE CONVERSION GAIN MIXING METHOD

A variable conversion gain frequency mixer and a method thereof are provided to reduce the power consumption of an intermediate frequency amplifier by decreasing the variable amplitude range of a frequency-mixed signal. A variable conversion gain frequency mixer includes a frequency mixing unit(200), a gain variable unit(300) and a filter unit(400). The frequency mixing unit mixes and outputs a first frequency signal and a second frequency signal. The gain variable unit adjusts the conversion gain of the frequency mixing unit based on the amplitude of the second frequency signal, and varies the amplitude of the output signal of the frequency mixing unit. The filter unit filters the output signal of the frequency mixing unit and outputs a third frequency signal. The frequency mixing unit has a first transistor(201) and a second transistor(202). The first transistor receives a first frequency signal. The second transistor receives the second frequency signal. The first and second transistors are coupled with each other in a cascade structure. The first and second transistors perform the mix of the first frequency signal and the second frequency signal.
