An agent-based PVR(Personal Video Recorder) control method, a system therefor and a PVR box are provided to record a program based on a separately defined video recording scenario besides the user input in the PVR box. A PVR agent providing server transmits a PVR agent program which prescribes the video recording scenario of a program to a plurality of user-side PVR boxes. The user-side PVR boxes execute the PVR agent program, and records the program based on the prescribed video recording scenario. The PVR agent program is common for all of the PVR boxes. The PVR agent program prescribing the video recording scenario is common to all PVR boxes. The video recording of the program is performed by the combination of the user information of a PVR box and the video recording scenario.
