PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise data transfer efficiency without deteriorating volume rendering calculation when data is transferred from an external memory to a 3D processor so as to perform the volume rendering calculation in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. SOLUTION: Volume data in a 3D data space is stored in a 3D memory 24, and transferred to an internal memory 28 with slice data as unit. The 3D processor 26 determines a ray to perform voxel calculation at each data transfer, and advances the voxel calculation concerning the ray to a voxel calculation performable extent.
