A chip mounter is provided to reduce a process time for clamping a circuit board by controlling a stroke of a backup table through distance control units. A chip mounter includes a pair of support frames(100), a backup table(200), and distance control units(300). The pair of support frames are in parallel with each other at a predetermined interval and have a circuit board(10). The backup table is arranged under the support frames to be lifted. The distance control units are installed on the support frames to control a distance between lower surfaces thereof and an upper surface of the backup table. The backup table has a support plate(210), a cylinder(230), and a backup pin(220). The support plate faces lower ends of the support frames. The cylinder is installed on a lower surface of the support plate to lift the support plate at a predetermined speed. The backup pin is installed at an upper end of the support plate, and an end thereof clamps a lower surface of the circuit board according to lifting of the support plate.
