RADIUS CLIENT AND METHOD OF MANAGING TRANSMISSION OF SUBSCRIBER'S ACCOUNTING INFORMATION

An RADIUS(Remote Authentication Dial in User Service) client and a method for managing transmission of accounting information are provided to prevent accounting information from being unnecessarily retransmitted, to use a session ID efficiently, and to solve difficulty in transmitting the accounting information in accordance with deficiency of the session ID by generating a new port when there is no available session ID. An RADIUS client for managing transmission of accounting information includes a port controller(121), an accounting information generator(122), a storage unit(123), a timer(124), a data communication unit(125), a queuing device(126) and an accounting information transmission controller(127). The port controller generates or deletes a UDP(User Datagram Protocol) port for transmitting the accounting information between the RADIUS client and server. The accounting information generator generates a start packet for notifying a client of the start of the accounting when a subscriber terminal starts to use a service, an interim packet including cyclically an accounting record with respect to a usage specification while the usage of the service continues, and an end packet including an overall accounting record when the usage of the service is terminated. The storage unit stores UDP port information, according information transmitted to the RADIUS server, and a correspondence session ID of the transmitted accounting information and transmission failure information. The timer generates an alarm for excess of a response waiting time if a response from the RADIUS server is not received for a set time after the RADIUS client transmits the accounting information to the RADIUS server. The data communication unit transmits the accounting information to the RADIUS server, receives a response from the RADIUS server, and transmits information related to generation or deletion of the UDP port to the RADIUS server. The queuing device stores a queue composed of at least one among the first, the second and the third waiting message in correspondence with receipt of a response, generation of an alarm and generation of new accounting information from the RADIUS server, respectively. The accounting information transmission controller controls each component of the RADIUS client.
