METHOD OF ADJUSTING HELLO TIMER FOR DISCOVERY MESSAGE REDUCTION AND SYSTEM

A method and a system for adjusting a hello timer for reducing an LDP discovery message are provided to maintain a session effectively and stably by exchanging messages required for session connection or session maintaining while reducing hello messages. An LSR receives an LDP link hello message(S801). The LSR sets an automatic hello interval adjustment(S802), and decodes a received hello message(S803). The LSR checks whether an automatic hello adjustment flag has been set(S804). If the automatic hello adjustment flag has not been set, the LSR negotiates with a peer that has transmitted the hello message with respect to a hello maintaining timer(S805). If the automatic hello adjustment flag has been set, the LSR checks whether a state of an LDP FSM is operational(S806). If the state of the LDP FSM is operational, the LSR extends a hello maintaining timer for maintaining a hello adjacency(S807). The LSR updates the hello maintaining timer by reflecting changed hello maintaining timer information(S808). The LSR checks whether an LDP session having hello adjacency already exists(S809). If an LDP already exists, the LSR receives a hello message and adds an LDP session with the LSR with the checked hello adjacency(S811).
