A device and a method for compressing data, and an image forming device including the same are provided to improve a printing quality of an image by compressing again printing data in a different compressing mode when a compressed size of the printing data is increased over a predetermined size during a non-loss compression mode. A first codec(10) compresses printing data in a non-loss compression mode and a second codec(20) compress the printing data in a loss compressing mode. A memory(40) stores the printing data compressed by the first codec. A compressed size monitor(30) monitors a compressed size of the printing data stored to the memory, and stores again the printing data to the memory by stopping compression of the first codec, compressing again the printing data with the second codec, and overwriting the compressed printing data on the printing data stored in the memory based on the monitored compressed size.
