A powder detergent particle containing an acidic type water soluble polymer is provided to realize excellent cleaning power and solubility in cold water without using water insoluble components, to prevent reattachment of contaminants, and to enable softening of hard water. A powder detergent particle comprises 0.1-15 parts by weight of an acidic type water soluble polymer, and 10-70 parts by weight of an alkali builder. The acidic type water soluble polymer comprises at least one unit selected from the group consisting of carboxyl group-containing monomer units, sulfonic acid group-containing monomer units and phosphoric acid group-containing monomer units.
