A vibration detecting device, an imaging apparatus, and a vibration detecting method are provided to control auto-stabilization based on a signal obtained by a vibration detecting part and to prevent the overlap between an excessive direct current and an output of a hi-pass filter for controlling the vibration properly regardless of an excessive vibration detecting signal. Control parameters are initially set(S101). A main line on is set(S102). An angular velocity value is read, a detection signal from a focus lens position detection part and a detection signal from a zoom lens position detection part are acquired, and each position information of focus lens groups and zoom lens groups is read(S104) after standing-by for predetermined time(S103). A blur quantity(A) is calculated(S105). It is judged that A>th1 is formulated(th1 is a predetermined threshold)(S106). When A>th1 is formulated, vibration occurs during panning and tilting operation to a plus direction. When A<th2 is formulated, vibration occurs during the panning or tilting operation to a minus direction. It is judged that a half pressing of a shutter button is operated from a released state, or a deep pressing is operated from the released state(S108). A main line off is controlled(S109). A time(T2) is initiated by a timer(S110). It is judged that a transition occurs by half pressing of the button or by deep pressing of the button(S111). It is checked that the initiated time is reached(S112). A time(T3) is initiated(S113).
