A method for the radiotherapy of the cancer of stomach comprises the assessment of the general state of the patient, the size of the primary cancer, the presence of the metastases in the regional lymph nodes, and the type of cancer. In addition, the content of non-histone protein Ki-67 as proliferation marker is assayed immunohistochemically. When Ki-67 content is within 3-20%, the tumor is considered as resistant to radiotherapy and therefore, radiotherapy is not indicated. When Ki-67 content is within 25-45%, the tumor is considered as radiosensitive, and preoperative irradiation is required. |
