<p>A device and a method for inputting data in a mobile terminal are provided to enable a user to input the data efficiently in the mobile terminal capable of touch input by providing character data found around a touch position during character data input. A touch sensor(104) senses character data input of a user and performs operation corresponding to the input. A coordinate checker(102) measures a position of an inputted touch by detecting the touch received from the touch sensor. A controller(100) orders the coordinate checker to obtain coordinates of the detected touch, and enables a display unit(105) to display temporary input data, which is character data corresponding to the touch position, and extended data, which is the character data around the temporary input data, by using the obtained coordinates when the user touch is detected during a touch input mode. The controller determines a touch moving direction by using the obtained coordinates and changes the extended data found in the determined direction into the temporary input data.</p> |
