The method involves injecting a reference signal (S) at an upstream of an analog-to-digital converter (7), and observing a resulting measurement signal (M). A calibration function is determined by an identification from a couple of signal values, and a disturbance measurement is corrected by the calibration function, where the injecting, observing, determination and correcting processes are carried out by moments indicated by a system parameter, that does not utilize a measuring cell (1). An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting a failure under the operation of a sensor.
