<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control sounding by relating two different element tones or more to each other, in a musical sound generator in which tone data including a plurality of element data for defining a plurality of element tones is edited. <P>SOLUTION: In a synthesizer, for each plurality of the element data for composing voice data, a range of a note number in which corresponding element note is to be sounded can be set. According to generation of a note-on event, the element data in which the note number of the generated note-on event is within the range to be sounded, are selected as candidates (S71 and s72), and from the candidates, any one of the element data is determined as the element data which is used for generating a new element tone according to the generated event, according to a predetermined rule, or at random (S73).
