<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce needless toner consumption cost which is burden on a user by reducing the forming number or forming frequency of patch toner images in development using six or more colors such as light magenta and light cyan in addition to Y, M, C and K four-color component toner in a color image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming mode using toner obtained by combining toner having the same hue but different lightness, the frequency of forming the patch toner image corresponding to each toner obtained by combining the toner having the same hue but different lightness is set to be lower when using toner having high lightness than when using toner having low lightness. Therefore, waste toner is restrained to the minimum, maintenance work is eliminated all the more because a waste toner storing part is not full of the waste toner soon, and a stable image formation is achieved without spoiling productivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
