<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of an in-line system which recovers secondary transfer residual toner by simultaneous transfer-and-recovery system, the apparatus being capable of satisfactorily recovering residual toner on an intermediate transfer body. <P>SOLUTION: Among the plurality of image forming sections 10 of the image forming apparatus 100A, the image forming section 10 that mainly recovers toner by reverse transfer in a color mode is different from that in a monochrome mode. After primary transfer in the furthest upstream image forming section 10a is finished in the color mode, at least part of toner on the intermediate transfer body 50, which reaches the primary transfer part N1a of the furthest upstream image forming section 10a after charged to the reverse polarity, is recovered by reverse transfer in the image forming sections 10 other than the furthest upstream image forming section 10a after passed through the primary transfer part N1a of the furthest upstream image forming section 10a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
