<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To individually and automatically generate "job ticket" data and printable data from a PDL compliant print stream (PDL-CPS). <P>SOLUTION: An automated means such as a computer program receives a PDL-CPS as input. The PDL-CPS describes both printable content and control data. The automated means separates the printable content from the control data. The automated means converts printable content data from printer description language into a format that is designed to be understood by human beings. The automated means generates two separate "package" data; one "package" describes the printable content, and the other "package" and the "job ticket" describes the control data. The automated means separates the PDL-CPS into the "job ticket" and printable content data.
