摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device having high reliability and a high display quality, by obtaining an inorganic alignment layer that has superior durability and appropriate alignment restricting force, a method for manufacturing the alignment layer, and to provide a method for manufacturing the liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is provided with an element substrate 10 and a counter substrate 20 which are disposed to face each other, a liquid crystal layer 50 which is held between the substrates 10, 20, and the alignment layers 40, 50. The alignment layer 40 disposed on the element substrate 10 is constituted of an inorganic membrane, having a porous structure and has a plurality of projecting parts formed on the surface on the liquid crystal layer 50 side of the inorganic porous membrane 56, where each of the projecting parts in plan view has a major axis and a minor axis.
