PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of improving a dust removing performance by using a suction tool for the cleaner provided with a plurality of rotary brushes, and improving the self-traveling property of the suction tool for the cleaner further. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner comprises: a cleaner main body 1 provided with a motor-driven blower; a suction tool main body 16 provided with a suction opening 18 formed on the bottom surface and moved back and forth on a surface to be cleaned; a connector whose one end is connected to the cleaner main body 1 and other end is connected to the suction tool main body 16, for forming a suction air path between the cleaner main body 1 and the suction tool main body 16; and a dust detection means 40 for detecting a duct amount in the air passing through the suction air path. The suction tool main body 16 is provided with a plurality of rotary brushes 30 and 33 and a drive source 24 for rotationally driving the plurality of rotary brushes 30 and 33. On the basis of detection signals from the dust detection means 40, the rotation speed of the plurality of rotary brushes 30 and 33 is controlled. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
